Go Karts

For thrilling outdoor fun for the young and old, there's nothing that compares to a go kart! Go karts come in several sizes and with a variety of safety features. There are go karts for children and ones built for two individuals. Below we're providing some general information about purchasing a go kart.

Sizes
It's important when buying a go kart to consider the age and driving experience of the primary go kart driver. There are go karts specifically designed for varying levels of experience. Beginner go karts are for children under the age of ten. The top speeds of these go karts is generally around 12 mph. They are not recommended for bumpy terrain.

For the pre-teen, an intermediate go kart is best. These karts drive faster, up to 30 mph, and are safe for the thrill-seeking adolescent. These go karts are intended for soft terrain with mild to moderate sloping hills. It is always recommended that an adult supervise any go kart in use.

Experienced teenagers and adults will love a full-size go kart. There are many types of go karts in this category. Some popular brands include: Manco, Ken-Bar, and Yerf Dog. The full-size go karts are made with one or two seats. Many people prefer the dual seat karts because two can enjoy the fun together!

Safety features
Unlike some other recreational vehicles, go karts are difficult to roll over because they ride close to the ground. Most go karts have roll bars or brush cages which provide increased safety in the rare event that a kart does roll over. Today's go karts have limited speeds of less than 40 mph. As would be expected, the driver has more control when traveling in lower speeds.

Remember when shopping for a go kart to consider the age and size of the primary driver. Also think about where the kart will be driven. After researching the types of go karts available, you'll be on your way to providing hours of fun for the whole family!
